Every healthy organism infects itself with the infection of common cold viruses. It is possible thanks to the immune system - a personal doctor. When the HIV virus (human immunodeficiency virus) gets inside the body is different. This virus in the first place overpowers our personal doctor - the immune system, also called immunological!

Intelligent self-defense of the HIV virus
The intensive search for not one of the weak points of the HIV virus results from its huge self-defense abilities. As proven by many years of research - a single drug does not give protection against disease. The HIV virus avoids its destructive effects - quickly changing the chemical structure of its enzymes. After some time - measured in only months or only in weeks - HIV produces new mutant enzymes with such a different chemical structure that the drug used to destroy them stops working.
The principle of simultaneous attack in all weak points of the virus
Currently, it has been established that the most important rule of destruction of HIV developed in human tanks is the principle of multidrug therapy - called combined or combined. It consists in inhibiting the multiplication of the virus in all phases sensitive to drugs. The aim is to inhibit the action of not one, but both of the mentioned enzymes - reverse transcriptase and protease, and in a possibly permanent way.
Effective multi-drug treatment against HIV
The multidrug treatment known as "combination therapy against HIV" gives a great chance that the HIV virus will not get out of control of the destructive effects of drugs. If, for example, one of its enzymes changes its structure and escapes from the control of one drug, the other will still be under the control of drugs. Multi-drug therapy protects against uncontrolled, avalanche virus development. The development of viremia, after exceeding a certain threshold of a very high number of viruses is unstoppable - in a word, it is incurable. Therefore, bipartite and triple treatments - are replaced by much more effective four-drug treatments.
Drugs included in combination therapy against HIV
Typically, such a therapy involves two nucleoside analogs (NRTI), one non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) and a protease inhibitor (PI) or two NRTIs and two (PI).
HAART therapy
The most commonly used multi-drug therapy today is the so-called HAART (higly active antiretroviral therapy) - term used to describe combination therapy containing 2 NRTI (nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors) and 1 or 2 PI (HIV protease inhibitor). Its aim is to regenerate the immune system. During treatment, there is an increase in the number of CD4 + T lymphocytes and cytokines. Strengthening the immune system allows you to effectively fight with numerous infections caused by HIV. This therapy is constantly modified. It can also consist of an interrupted cycle - e.g. a week of admission and a week of break. Many scientists around the world are hoping to improve it. For now, thanks to the medicines, the lives of patients have been significantly extended.
The effectiveness of HIV treatment
The progress in the treatment of HIV infection in recent years has led to the development of treatments that block the multiplication of the virus to the extent that it can not detect disease (excessive viral load) for up to 2-3 years. As we have already said, this is possible thanks to the use of drugs that act on two elements of the biological cycle of HIV, namely the inhibitory activity of reverse transcriptase and protease. Unfortunately, despite the effectiveness of this therapy, it has not been possible to completely eliminate the virus from the body.
MEMBERS:
In a few or a dozen years, the HIV virus can completely destroy the immune system.
Untreated infection with HIV virus results in the destruction of the immune system after many years. The body becomes defenseless against microbes that do not cause any disease symptoms under normal conditions. We then have an acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, ie AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). From that moment, recurrent fungal, viral, bacterial, protozoan and uncontrolled tumor growth, also caused by the immune system impairment - cause progressive wasting of the body, which leads to death of the patient.
